Riding Fenna with bitless bridle

Postby Saskia on Sat Feb 27, 2010 11:17 am

Yesterday it was such a beautiful weather so I worked with Fenna.
First some ground driving and she is doing that very well. I find it not easy because of all the snow in the arena. LOL Good exersize though!
And after a break I rode her for a while in the arena. It was 5 months ago I rode her in the round pen a couple of times, but she did not bad at all and I was very pleased. She is a real sweetheart and the bitless bridle is working very well on her. (she does not like the bit.)
Here some photo's of Fenna and me. Don't mind the dutch text. :-)

Looking good, she's a beautiful girl, I see your snow is going away a little as well.

She looks like she is trying to sleep walk in both pictures!! I take that as she is a real quiet one?

The snow in the arena is flattened because the horses are in there every day and I spread hay around. They did their job very well! LOL

Fenna is a real quiet easy going girl. She stands so still when brushed, cleaning her feet and saddle her up. The farrier loves her. :-)
She can be stuborn though! I have a movie on youtube where you can see her being ridden .
The riding is of the first few minutes and she just did not want to leave Ron, who was filming us. After he went into the truck and she did much better. No safety spot anymore right? Also she has to get used to the bitless bridle but I think she did realy well.
Here is the link to the short movie.

She certainly likes her safety place,

I do like her, once you get her going well she's going to be a nice ride I think, cute cat there as well.

We have 4 cats on the yard and this one, Bella, is the youngest, not even a year old. She follows us everwhere, and loves to play with my whip during lunging or the long lines during ground driving. :-)
She loves the horses and they love her and whenever I work with one of the horses....she is there to watch. LOL

Fenna was greenbroke to ride and drive when I bought her 2 years ago and she is a wonderful ride. My daughters loved to ride her when they are over for vacation. But then Misty came and I was too busy with the setup of the yard etc.....so a bit of neglect in training. But now time to pick it all up again. :-)

Your horse looks so calm and accepting. She looks real comfortable with what she is learning. ie ear turned to listen to you, tail held a bit away from her body, natural head carriage. That's a really nice start on her.

Yes, she is a very calm horse.(all of my horses are very calm and easy going) She just needs more training and I hope to have more time for her this spring. :-)
With a part time job and 6 horses it's hard to give all of them the attention and training they need.
I really need to downsize but it's hard to let some of them go , as I love them all.... but I just have to.
