Summer Riding

Postby Serendipity on Sat Mar 06, 2010 8:13 am

Thought it might be fun to see what everyone is up to with thier horses this year. Originally I was planning on just doing 2-3 local shows but seems I now have a wedding on every weekend the shows are! Definately plan on hitting up a few trail rides though and I'm still hopeful we might get to the mountains to do some riding later in the summer (wishful thinking but we'll see what happens).

I don't really plan on doing any showing this year. My expense account is basically tapped out for the horses for the next year! One of my riding students wants to hit up a couple local shows with Honey, so I'll probably be there 'coaching' her but otherwise, I don't plan on "showing"! lol

I don't do shows but I'm planning to trailer Flicka to different places for trail rides. If Freya is doing well I would like to do the same with her.

It will probably be driving not riding but with our auctions starting again in May we'll still be busy as well as foaling this spring and outside mares here and selling off the farmetc. I fthings go well we'll get to a trail ride and maybe a fair or 2. It depends on work and the farm, etc. Love summer :D

Looks like my plan is to get a couple of horses ready for my daughter who will go into a couple of shows this year. I have never shown and had no interest, but it looks like I'm going into a gaited schooling shows and clinics. Other than that lots of training and trail rides. Of course theres the on going task of fencing and yard set up that comes with the summer so it will be busy.

That's the other thing, we are already so busy trying to get our house in town ready to be listed and sold, so that we can move forward more with the farm. Still have so much to do, but this years goals for me is getting our house there and setting up fence so that I can have my horses there. The rest of it, we can do while we live there. I guess the lane is pretty important too, but that's going to cost us $11,000 so it's a "have to sell the house in town first" kinda thing!! lol We can use the little chicken trail for the summer, but come winter that lane HAS to be there!

I'm hoping the new horse and I can get out this season. Whoever the newbie happens to be, I have a few prospects to look at!
